WHY DOES NATIVE DIRECTIONS NEED DONATIONS TO OPERATE? DON'T THE NATIVE AMERICAN CASINO'S MAKE ENOUGH MONEY FOR THE OPERATIONS OF YOUR ORGANIZATION?

This is a complicated question. Most Native American Casino's have strict guidelines that cause money only to be given to their specific tribe. Along with this each tribe struggles to grow and take care of their own high priority infrastructure items such as: housing, college tuition, and basic medical needs. The other side of this question is that like the US government many tribes become subject to bureaucracy and short sighted bandaids instead of solutions. The Native Directions program is designed to solved the root of the problem unlike traditional methods which only address the symptoms of substance abuse and behavioral issues. Many approved programs do great work in helping the individual to become free from substance abuse and then return the individual to the same situation from which they came without the skills to keep free of substances or behavioral issues.

WHAT ARE NEAR BRAIN ACTIVITIES?

Near brain activities are Therapeutic interventions which utilize the four elements of nature- Earth, Wind, Water, and Fire. The human spirit has an instinctual reaction to these elements. One simple example of this is how individuals become calm and interspective when looking at a campfire. Near brain activities are interactions with the elements of nature that help an indiviual to ask important character defining questions such as; Who am I, Where do I come from, and, What do I really want with my life? Once an individual begins to ask these questions of themself, others can give support. If the individual is not asking these questions then the support will go under utilized. The greatest battles in an individuals lifetime will be the battles with self.

They are milestones in an individuals life that mark the begining of a new stage in ones life journey. They are also tasks that show to both the individual and to the community that the individual is prepared to take on certain responsibilities.
